History
Worldwood was founded in 1965 by Albert van Buren who had previously worked for many years in the international timber trade. During his earlier years he gained a valuable insight into the furniture industry identifying its appeal and demand for more unusual and exotic timbers, this resulted in his specializing in the timbers Palissander and Wengé.
In 1983 after finishing his education in Forestry in Velp, his son Ronald joined the company. Teak was then introduced to the portfolio of timbers stocked with the result that Worldwood soon became a market leader in Teak, with sales to both domestic and international yachtbuilders, as well as to the wider timber trade both at home and abroad.
Ronald van Buren took over the company from his father in 1996 and continues to be the driving force behind the company. Michel van Moll with over 25 years service acts as commercial manager with responsibility for the day to day management, he is ably supported by Wim Stolk, the financial manager.
In September 2008 the company formed a sister company Woodimex International B.V. This company servicing the larger joinery companies together with merchants, giving the company a broader customer base. The introduction of a wider range of products has further enhanced and strengthened the companies reputation and future.
