AMERICAN ASH (Fraxinus americana)

General description
Ash is mainly wanted for its nice white colour. Sapwood is almost white in colour and
heartwood varies from light to reddish brown. The wood is relatively heavy (700kg/m3) but easy to work providing close attention is paid to drying as it has tendency to split.
Special stickers are required so as to avoid sticker marks. Ash is not suitable for outdoor use.
Main uses
Stairs, furniture, carpentry, flooring, toolhandles, sports in ladders and gymnastic tools.
Remark
Whilst Europe can provide high quality Ash, the main demand is for America Ash due to a wider range of specifications and more competitive prices.
