CURUPAY (Anadenanthera macrocarpa)

South America, mainly Bolivia and Argentina.
General description
The species are red brown in colour with occasional black stripes. The wood is heavy (900 kg/m3) and very durable. The wood is slightly crossgrained. Careful drying is recommended as the species has a tendency to warp. Due to hardness and weight the wood is difficult to work.
Main uses
Waterworks, gardening and flooring.
Remark
Straight trees above 4 meters are rare which makes the availability in long lengths limited.
